Coaching Courses


Tennis Ireland works closely with Coaching Ireland in University of Limerick, the International Tennis Tennis Federation and Tennis Coach Ireland to implement the highest possible standards of coaching in tennis. Tennis Ireland offer different levels of coaching qualification in Ireland and runs these courses at various times throughout the year. Level 1 Coaching Courses (Entry Level) are run annually throughout the region, while the more high performance qualifications are run when interest from coaches is sufficient for such a course to run.

 

Play and Stay Assistant

Qualifying as a tennis coach can lead to exciting full or part-time career opportunities – at home or abroad. Tennis Ireland is the National Governing Body of the game this country. Level One Coaching Courses

Level One Coaching Courses are designed to allow entry level coaches gain a solid foundation of knowledge in coaching tennis at local club level. It allows the coach to experience several different aspects of coaching a club player from beginner to intermediate level.

 

These courses are divided into three distinct modules involving Mini, Midi and Full Court tennis. The next courses are due to commence in all four regions in the Autumn 2012 and the full Level One Course for 2012/2013 be completed by the end of June.

 

All coaches begin their careers as Level Ones Coaches and can build on their coaching skills from here progressing to Level 2 Coaching and upwards. To apply for a Level One Course in your region click here.

 

PTR Pathway Course

The PTR Pathway Course has been developed as a means of Licensing PTR Coaches who have been trained outside of the Tennis Ireland Coaches Education Programme up to the end December 2011 to work as a Coach in the island of Ireland with the same rights as a Tennis Ireland Level 1 Coach.

 

In addition, the course serves as an excellent refresher course for coaches who wish to familiarise themselves with the most up to date information at Level 1 of the Tennis Ireland Coaches Education Programme.

Director of Tennis Courses

The Director of Tennis Course is a prerequisite for Level 1 Coaches to take before advancing to the Tennis Ireland Level 2 Course. Click here for application form

 

The Course is designed to provide the participant with all the knowledge required in order to set up and develop successful on court tennis programmes in a club.


If you plan to be in a leadership role at a tennis club at some stage in the future, the course will help you develop the necessary skills to manage and lead the implementation of a complete club development programme.


 

Level Two Coaching Courses

The Level Two Coaching Course allows a Level One Coach to build on their current Level One certificate and will allow the coach to work with more advanced players, working at a high standard of competition. Unlike Level One the Level Two course takes place in a centralised location and does not take place regionally.

 

Before applying for the Level Two Course coaches must have worked for at least one year as a Level One coach. Potential candidates must also pass a Level 2 Playing and Feeding test before they can be accepted onto the course. If you wish to apply for the next Level 2 click here
